Amethyst Stone Candle Holder – Crystal for Healing

Amethyst stone candle holder

Have you ever seen an Amethyst stone candle holder? Along with Himalayan salt candle holders, they are my favorite tealight holder. I own three candle holders of Amethyst and they are absolutely stunning! In this article, I explain the meaning and benefits of this gorgeous purple gemstone.

What Is Amethyst?

Amethyst is Crystalline quartz in the shades of purple, lilac or mauve color. It is also the birthstone for February. Amethyst jewelry is quite popular not only because of the gorgeous color, but also its healing power.

I especially admire the beauty of their natural state. That is why I love these candle holders since they are made of rough cut amethyst chunks. Perfect natural beauty.

What Does Amethyst Mean?

The name came from the Ancient Greek “amethystos.” The a- indicates negation “not,” and methysko means “intoxicate.” Thus, Amethyst means “not intoxicate.”

The Greeks believed that Amethyst gems prevent its owner from drunkenness and intoxication. It also improves intellectual and cerebral thought.

Amethyst Stone Benefits

They say Amethyst stone enhances your chakra balancing and emotional healing.

what are the seven chakras

What are chakras? They are energy focal points running through the center of our subtle body, not the physical body, from bottom to the top. They say there are seven main chakras. Each one is connected to a particular psychic-energy channel.

Among the seven chakras, Amethyst is mainly linked to the Crown chakra. It is the seventh primary chakra located on top of your head. When it’s balanced and open, Crown chakra gives us access to higher states of consciousness and gets us in touch with the Universe.

Violet/purple is the crown chakra color, which is also the color of Amethyst. It has the shortest wavelength and the highest vibration of the visible spectrum of light. The crown chakra color represents spirituality.

The Ancient Greeks believed that its bright purple color came from the god of wine, Dionysus, pouring out his wine over a clear crystal in grief. Because of this, they said Amethyst has the power of preventing drunkenness, hence the name meaning “not intoxicate.”

In the metaphorical sense, it also enhances the ability to think more clearly and not to cloud your mind with emotions.

Amethyst Stone Candle Holder

I purchased my Amethyst candle holders at a gemstone shop in Canada. If you have a stone shop in your area, it is always best to handpick the one you like.

It is easy to find Amethyst jewelry online for purchase. However, when it comes to Amethyst stone candle holders, it’s quite hard to find one. They seem to be very popular on Amazon too, and I could see only a few selections in stock.

By reading customer reviews, the piece below seems to be the best choice. Other cheaper ones have disappointed its buyers because the size was smaller than the description and the color was nothing like in the photo. When I purchase this particular Amethyst candle holder for myself, I will update my review.

Disclaimer: Pricing may be different from listing below as Amazon pricing can change from day to day, and they also offer daily deals.

How to Use Amethyst Candle Holders

Amethyst has a positive effect on our minds and consciousness, so place it where you often work with your brain. It will help you keep a clear mind and focus. I always keep my Amethyst candle holder near my desk where I spend hours working, and light a candle in it as well as in Himalayan salt candle holders.

Amethyst also has a long reputation for easing the stress that blocks recovery from almost any ailment. If you suffer from depression, insomnia or nightmares, you may want to keep one near your bed. Just beware not to leave the candle on as you go to sleep. You don’t need a candle to receive the benefits from Amethyst. The crystal itself possesses the energy of healing.

If someone you know is suffering from mental stress, Amethyst stone candle holders will make a great gift to comfort the friend.

Was your friend born in February? Then, this candle holder will be a perfect gift as Amethyst is the birthstone for February.

Maintenance

You can safely clean your Amethyst with warm soapy water. They say ultrasonic cleaners are usually safe, but I usually do not use any soap. When my Amethyst stones get dusty, I simply wipe the crystal parts with a damp cloth or paper towel.

You also need to not only clean but cleanse your Amethyst. Since any natural gemstones from Mother Earth are alive, they need to be cleansed and energized on a regular basis to maintain its healing power. Below, I listed several ways to cleanse your Amethyst. You do not need to do all of them, so just pick one you prefer and try it out.

how to cleanse crystalsCleanse with Moonlight

Put your Amethyst candle holder in a place where they will be exposed to the moon such as by the window.

Even if the sky is cloudy and you cannot see the moon, don’t worry. The energy of the moon rays are in effect and energizes Amethyst. It normally gets cleansed within 24 hours of exposure.

Other crystals can be cleansed by the sun too. However, Amethyst will fade in the sun, so you cannot cleanse this particular crystal with the suns rays. Be careful not to leave Amethyst in direct sunlight.

Cleanse with the Earth

Wrap your Amethyst in a cloth and leave it buried in the earth for at least 24 hours. Preferably, use a natural fabric such as cotton to wrap it. The natural power of the earth cleanses all negative energies and recharges the Amethyst stone. If you can, try to find a spot where the soil is not polluted with chemicals like pesticides.

Cleanse with Another Crystal

Place your Amethyst on another crystal, preferably a large quartz crystal cluster. This method clears negative energies and re-energizes the stone. One crucial tip is to cleanse the large quartz crystal regularly. Otherwise, it won’t retain the power to cleanse your Amethyst.

Cleanse with White Sage

Burn some white sage. Hold your Amethyst in the smoke for about three or four minutes. This method cleanses negative energies stored in the crystal. However, it does not re-energize the Amethyst. To recharge it, you need to use the moon, the earth, or crystal methods.

If possible, I recommend you to do this out in the balcony or backyard. I once did this cleansing in a room, and the smoke from the sage activated the fire alarm! If you have to do this inside the house, open the windows and be cautious not to make the mistake I made!
